Special essays were written by students about their “Kindness Heroes”. Criteria for the essays was simple: “Write about someone who has demonstrated kindness to you through everyday kind acts.”

These essays were written by individuals in grades 1-8 about recognized family members, teachers, and members of the community who exemplify what it means to care for others. All were heartfelt, some quite humorous or poignant.

Winners of the 1999 “Kindness Hero” Essay Contest were honored at the Angels Camp City Council meeting Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at 7:00PM..

Students read their essays aloud to their respective “heroes” at the Council meeting and later were presented their awards at a special reception honoring both the winners and “heroes.” The dessert reception was held at Mark Twain School at 7:30, following the meeting.
