Kautz Ironstone Vinyards sent their horse drawn wagon to provide free transportation between Utica Park and the Historic center. What a pleasure! I can't describe to you how wonderful it was to dress up in period costume and step back in time. The huge horses pulling us in the wagon was definitely a high point in my day. I arrived back at the historic district in time to rest up a little bit and take my turn in the hospitality booth, right in the center of the action. The bad boys got blown away a few more times by the marshals. I never got tired of it, they were so good! Soon after one of the gunfights I saw 3 little boys standing on the sidewalk in front of me. An ice cream truck had pulled up, they were discussing the high cost of ice cream when one of them looked over and saw the big sign over the phoney bank that was set up for the gunfights. He called out "Hey, there's a bank" as though all their problems were solved. I had to really fight to keep from breaking out laughing. Aren't children wonderful! They were as good at entertaining as anyone else. The difference is they didn't know how entertaining they were. So, to help relieve the pressure I told Geniveve Newman of the Calaveras Ledger Dispatch. We both chucked over that for quite a while. I almost hate to say it but I decided I couldn't bear to have any more fun. I went home before the Bar-B Que. I hope other business people and community members as well as visitors will send in their impressions of the day, along with pictures, we want pictures!. I'll attribute all submissions that I print, please send 'em in. |
