Maybe it's because I was on the organizing committee but I couldn't believe luck we had with the weather. The morning started crystal clear and cool, almost cold. Then the day warmed into the mid 70's and was bright all day. I was glad that it didn't get too hot because I dressed in a "kind of" period costume. A long sleeve stripped shirt and leather vest. Others, including Guns for Hire had on full leather. After watching a couple of terrific gunfights I jumped on the Firemans Fun Truck which provided free transportation and went to the museum. I got to play tour guide for the other riders, telling them about Angels Camp, the activities in different areas and answer questions. It was fun for me and informative for them. The museum was concerned that we were running out of dinner tickets. I overheard that more were made available so I stopped and told them. They had a full day going for them at the museum. In case you aren't aware our museum alone is worth a full day. Click Here to read more. The museum had rope makers and a Blacksmith. They had a horseshoer and a few other "living" exhibits as well as a food both. In addition a surprise attraction was the rummage sale at the church next door. I got back on the funbus and went past the Business persons frog jump at the school, where they were competing in advance of the official frog jump next week. Then the bus turned around at Middletons Center and Blooms N' Things and headed for Utica Park. It is named correctly, it IS a funtruck. From the open bed where we sat to the siren and the young, handsome firemen. Utica Park had pony rides for the children, Llama's and wool taters. The pancake breakfast had been there earlier. I missed it so I grabbed a huge hot dog from the vendor. They had an exhibit of the wagon train that is coming to town on June 20th fathers day and leaving on the 22nd. There was plenty of great information. The day continues Click here |
